Waiting on Wednesday (2)

OK, I know it's now technically Thursday (at least where I am), but whatever. I work until 11:30pm, and I didn't have enough time beforehand to post this.

Before I start this though, I have a quick question- Now, I just got a HUGE package of books from Jillian Laks at Penguin (FIFTEEN!!) and will probably have another couple ARCs in my mailbox once I'm able to open it (I lost my key and have to get a replacement one) since I haven't been able to open it since Saturday. So anyway, that's a lot of books, so I was thinking that I might just do the In My Mailbox feature in parts this week and divide everything up into a smaller dosage. But I also had the idea to just put up a cut where you'd see one or two on the main page and then have to click a link (Read More... - sorta like what most of the posts are like on GuysLitWire) to see the rest. Which would you guys prefer- divided up or behind a cut? Let me know in the comments! Thanks in advance!

Now, on to the book!

Parties and Potions by Sarah Mlynowski
Perfect hair, cute clothes, healthy tans—life’s a breeze when you’re a witch! Even special witchcraft classes Rachel agrees to attend with Miri turn out to be fun. The sisters meet other teen witches just like them—who knew? Everyone’s preparing for a magical party called a Samsorta—a debutante ball for witches. And it wouldn’t be a ball without warlocks. Cute ones. Like Adam, who wants to slow dance with Rachel, and ski with her in the Rockies—on a school night! Of course, Rachel is madly in love with her boyfriend, Raf. So why can’t she bring herself to tell Adam—funny, charming Adam—that Raf exists?

Rachel knows Raf likes her. Maybe even, gulp, loves her. But Raf doesn’t know her secret. Unlike Adam, Raf doesn’t know who she really is. And she can never tell him. Or can she?

My Thoughts: Alright, this won't be too much waiting on my part now since this book will be out in less than two weeks, but I have been wanting this book since I finished the third book, Spells and Sleeping Bags which I reviewed here very poorly (one of my first reviews), in the summer of 2007. I'm supposed to be getting an ARC from a friend of mine but she hasn't been able to send it out yet to my knowledge... I need to check in with her. But anyway, I love Mlynowski's writing and this series in particular because I love to read about witches. Give me a book about witches and I'll instantly love it (very similar to if you give me a book featuring a gay man) before even opening the book. Two of my favorite shows are all about witches- Charmed and Sabrina the Teenage Witch. Witches = teh awesome. Screw the unicorn vs zombie fight- witches are where it's at.

  1. I love that series from Sarah. I actually met her back in May and got her to sign them for me. I can't wait to read this next one and see where it goes!

  2. These are such cute books! I've got this one one it's way right now.

As for you in you mailbox I think you should do one of the hide-a-post things, but I think people will appreciate anything you do.

Hope all is well on the job front and your having a great holiday season!

  3. Ooh - I've still got book one sitting on my shelf. Must get reading it. I loved Sabrina the Teenage Witch and I wasn't remotely a teenager when I was watching it (actually my kids still watch the cartoon version all the time!!!!)

Hope the new job is going well!!!
