""We have lingered in the chambers of the sea, by sea-girls wreathed with seaweed red and brown, till human voices wake us, and we drown."
After parting ways with her troubled mermaid tribe, Luce just wants to live peacefully on her own. But her tranquility doesn't last long: she receives news that the tribe is on the verge of collapse and desperately needs her leadership. Anais, their cruel queen, wants Luce dead. Dorian, the boy Luce broke mermaid law to save, is determined to make her pay for her part in the murder of his family. And while the mermaids cling to the idea that humans never suspect their existence, there are suddenly ominous signs to the contrary.
But when Luce and Dorian meet, they start to wonder if love can overpower the hatred they know they should feel for each other. Luce's new friendship with an ancient renegade mermaid gives her hope that her kind might someday change their murderous ways. But how can Luce fulfill her rightful role as queen of the mermaids without sacrificing her forbidden romance with Dorian?
Full of miraculous reunions and heart-pounding rescues, this haunting second installment in the Lost Voices Trilogy finds Luce eager to attempt reconciliation with humans—as long as war doesn't break out first."- summary from author's website
My thoughts: I absolutely loved the first book Lost Voices. It was so atmospheric and such an interesting twist on mermaids and sirens. I've been looking forward to the sequel since finishing the previous book and you'd better believe I'll be hunting this book down at BEA. Watch out, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt!

Waiting on Wednesday- Elementals by Antony John
"A mysterious and powerful fantasy adventure from a Schneider Award winner
In the near future, most of the population of the United States has been destroyed by the plague. The few remaining survivors live in colonies on the barrier islands off the East Coast. In one colony near Cape Hatteras, almost all the members have elemental powers and can control wind, water, earth, and fire. All but sixteen-year-old Thomas. When the Guardians, the powerful adult leaders, are kidnapped by pirates seeking to take over their colony, it is up to Thomas and a small group of teens to save them and preserve the mysteries of the island.
Fast action, strategy, and mystery churn together into a bold and fresh fantasy from an award-winning author."- summary from GoodReads
Why I Want to Read This: I have yet to read Antony John's books though I have ARCs of his first two books but all of them, including this upcoming one, sounds absolutely amazing. It's a departure from his first two, which were contemporary stories, so I'm interested to see how he handles this. Between now and November though, when the book releases, I'm gonna have to get around to his first two books.
Is anyone else looking forward to this? If not, what are you waiting on this week?

Waiting on Wednesday- The Thing About the Truth by Lauren Barnholdt
"Kelsey’s not going to let one mistake ruin her life. Sure, she got kicked out of prep school and all her old friends are shutting her out. But Kelsey’s focused on her future, and she’s determined to get back on track at Concordia High.
Isaac’s been kicked out of more schools than he can count. Since his father’s a state senator, Isaac’s life is under constant scrutiny—but Concordia High’s his last stop before boarding school, so Isaac’s hoping to fly under the radar and try to stay put for a change.
When Kelsey and Isaac meet, it’s anything but love at first sight. She thinks he’s an entitled brat, and he thinks she’s a stuck-up snob. So it surprises them both when they start to fall for each other. Kelsey’s happy for the first time in months, and Isaac’s never felt this way about anyone before….But nothing’s ever completely perfect. Everyone has secrets, and Isaac and Kelsey are no exceptions. These two may have fallen hard, but there’s one thing that can ruin it all: the truth."- summary from Amazon
Why do I want this book? First off, it's by Lauren Barnholdt who I just simply adore. We've been chatting since her debut Reality Chick came out (it has since been re-released as Watch Me) and her books are so much fun to read. It's also been so much fun seeing her books get more and more attention as the years go on. Secondly, it just sounds so interesting and like a very unique love story. I can't wait to read it! Waiting on Wednesday- The Crown of Embers by Rae Carson
My Waiting on Wednesday pick this week is The Crown of Embers by Rae Carson. Summary is below the picture and does contain spoilers from Book 1.
"Elisa is the hero of her country. She led her people to victory against a terrifying enemy, and now she is their queen. But she is only seventeen years old. Her rivals may have simply retreated, choosing stealth over battle. And no one within her court trusts her-except Hector, the commander of the royal guard, and her companions. As the country begins to crumble beneath her and her enemies emerge from the shadows, Elisa will take another journey. With a one-eyed warrior, a loyal friend, an enemy defector, and the man she is falling in love with, Elisa crosses the ocean in search of the perilous, uncharted, and mythical source of the Godstone’s power. That is not all she finds.
A breathtaking, romantic, and dangerous second volume in the Fire and Thorns trilogy."- summary from Goodreads
I absolutely LOVED The Girl of Fire and Thorns. I sped through it and have been so excited for the second (and third) book. Whenever I get a copy, I will be reading it right away. Carson created a fantastic world and a wonderful main character to root for. If you have not read the first book, go do so now!
This will be released September 18, 2012 from Greenwillow Books/HarperCollins.

Waiting on Wednesday- Size 12 and Ready to Rock by Meg Cabot
"It’s summer break at New York College, but that doesn’t mean assistant residence hall director Heather Wells can kick back and relax. The students may have gone home, but Fischer Hall is as busy as ever.
Only instead of college freshmen, Heather’s got a dorm full of squealing thirteen- and fourteen-year-old girls—the first ever “Tania Trace Teen Rock Camp,” hosted by pop sensation (newly married to heartthrob Jordan Cartwright, Heather’s ex) Tania Trace.
But when the producer of the reality television show that’s filming Tania’s every move at the camp ends up dead, and it becomes clear Tania was the intended victim, Grant Cartwright, head of Cartwright Records, turns to his son, family black sheep and private investigator Cooper Cartwright, for help, desperate to keep his new daughter-in-law—and company’s highest earning star—alive.
Heather knows perfectly well she’s supposed to leave the detecting to Cooper, her ex’s big brother and her own brand new fiancĂ©. But with hysterical mini divas-in-training freaking out all around her—not to mention their mothers —how can she help but get involved? Especially when Tania Trace herself begins to confide in Heather, revealing a secret that may be a little more "real" than Cartwright Records ever bargained for.
And if an added bonus to solving the crime herself happens to be that Heather can convince Cooper to bury the hatchet with his family and agree to a large wedding, and not the elopement he's been insisting on, so all of Heather's friends can come, then maybe putting her own life on the line to save Tania’s just might turn out to be worth it...."- summary from Harper catalog
I had to look EVERYWHERE for this summary... I'm wondering if I should even be putting it here since I got it from the catalog, but whatever. I am SO EXCITED for this new Heather Wells book because I absolutely loved the first three books and have been so looking forward to more for a long time. Plus, it's always cause for celebration when a new Meg Cabot book comes out. This will be released as a trade paperback in July.

Waiting on Wednesday- Simon and Schuster 2012
Here's my second-to-last Waiting on Wednesday for 2011 where I spotlight some 2012 books from each publisher. Previous publishers I've spotlighted are HarperCollins, Scholastic, Little Brown, Penguin, and Hyperion. Today I'm spotlighting Simon and Schuster!
Fever by Lauren DeStefano
My thoughts: I absolutely loved the first book in this trilogy and cannot wait to see what DeStefano comes up with next for Rhine and Gabriel. I hope I get a Galley Grab newsletter with a link to the e-galley soon!! This will be released Feb 21.
Bittersweet by Sarah Ockler
My thoughts: I really loved Ockler's debut and feel bad that I haven't yet read her second book Fixing Delilah. But I'm very excited for her third book and hope that my library gets a copy in. If you haven't read any of Ockler's books, do so. She's an awesome writer. This will be released Jan 3.
Island of Silence (Unwanteds #2) by Lisa McMann
My thoughts: I love Lisa's books and her new middle-grade fantasy series is just so much fun. I absolutely cannot wait for this new addition to the series and I hope it goes for 7 books like Lisa wants it to. I can't get enough of it. This will be released in September.
The One That I Want by Jennifer Echols
My thoughts: I was a bit sad when this was originally announced as just an e-book because I don't have an e-reader. But then good news! It's being released as a paperback on Feb 7! I love Jennifer's books so much and I absolutely cannot wait to read this book.

Waiting on Wednesday- Hyperion 2012
I'm continuing my series of spotlighting 2012 titles by publisher for Waiting on Wednesday. I've previously done HarperTeen, Scholastic, Little Brown, and Penguin; now today I'm spotlighting Hyperion titles.
As Dead as It Gets by Katie Alender
My thoughts: I love Alender's creepy tales and am really excited for the final book in the trilogy. I really enjoy the characters and just can't wait to read it. It will be released in May 2012. Add to GoodReads or pre-order on Amazon
.
From What I Remember by Stacey Kramer and Valerie Thomas
My thoughts: I love books with multiple points of view and this just sounds really interesting. It's a contemporary novel, which is always nice to see in the ocean of paranormals, and seems like it'll be a lot of fun to read. This will be released in May 2012. Add to GoodReads or pre-order on Amazon
.
A Farewell to Charms by Lindsey Leavitt
My thoughts: OK, so I'm a bit behind on Desi's adventures having not yet read the second book Royal Treatment, but I'm still excited for this third book because Leavitt is an awesome writer. Plus, I did really enjoy the first book Princess for Hire. I gotta find the time to fit Royal Treatment before the final book releases in June 2012. Add to GoodReads or pre-order on Amazon
.
Secret Letters by Leah Scheier
My thoughts: I'm a bit hesitant when it comes to historical fiction but this sounds like it's got a lot of intrigue and action going on. Plus, I love mysteries so I'm definitely willing to give this debut a shot! This will be released in June 2012. Add to GoodReads or pre-order on Amazon

Waiting on Wednesday- Penguin 2012
Here's the latest in my series of WoWs for certain publishers and their upcoming titles. I've done HarperCollins, Scholastic, and Little Brown and today is Penguin's turn.
Zoe Letting Go by Nora Price
My thoughts: This sounds like such a good, interesting book. I like stories that take place in a rehab center (Get Well Soon by Julie Halpern comes to mind) and this seems like it'll have some mysteries and twists and turns. Also, sorry for the bad image but it was all I could find. Not really having the best of luck with finding Penguin covers of summer releases and I don't know how to get them from the catalog. This will be released in June 2012.
Keep Holding On by Susane Colasanti
My thoughts: I love Susane's books though I've only read two of them, I think, but I have two unread books of hers in my bookshelves that I really need to get to. I'm so excited for another book by Susane and it should be interesting to see her taking on bullying. This will be released June 2012.
Tokyo Heist by Diana Renn
My thoughts: This looks like it'll be good for fans of Ally Carter and I just love heist/spy novels. They're just so much fun and this one sounds so good. The addition of it taking place in Tokyo adds an extra level of fun. This will be released June 2012.
Wicked Jealous by Robin Palmer
My thoughts: I loved Robin's first two books, Cindy Ella and Geek Charming (and loved the GC movie too!), and her fairy tale retellings are just so funny and compelling with some interesting changes and twists. This will be released in July 2012.
I'm also excited for Beauty by Lisa Daily, which will be out in May, but I could not find a cover I could use. The cover is in the Penguin Summer 2012 catalog but that's the only place I could find it.

Waiting on Wednesday- Little, Brown 2012
I figured I'd just make this a little series of sorts for each publisher detailing some of the books I'm excited for in the upcoming year. I've done HarperCollins and Scholastic so far. Today though is all about Little, Brown!
Perfect Escape by Jennifer Brown
My thoughts: I absolutely loved Jennifer's debut Hate List and really want to read more from her. I have her second book Bitter End still to read, but this one looks really cool because there's a road trip in it and I'm interested about OCD and the need for perfection. Also, it's a sibling book which should be a good breather from all the romances out there today. This will be released July 10, 2012.
Revived by Cat Patrick
My thoughts: I really enjoyed Patrick's first novel Forgotten and this one looks to be as innovative and suspenseful as that was. Seriously, go read the summary and I guarantee you'll be adding it to your wishlist! This will be released May 8, 2012.
172 Hours on the Moon by Johan Harstad
My thoughts: Another government secret plot, but it just sounds so interesting! I am really looking forward to this book. This will be released April 17, 2012.
The Rivals by Daisy Whitney
My thoughts: Whitney's debut The Mockingbirds simply blew me away and I was so excited to read more, whether it was a continuation or a completely new story. I'm glad though that there's another book in the Mockingbirds series and it sounds like a really interesting read. I also really enjoy the new covers (particularly this one because I enjoy cute guys). This will be released February 6, 2012.

Waiting on Wednesday- Scholastic 2012
So I've got a few Scholastic 2012 titles to share with you guys that I cannot wait to get my hands on! Links go to the book's GoodReads page.
Perception by Kim Harrington
My thoughts: I absolutely LOVED Clarity, the first book in this trilogy. It was a funny paranormal, which we really need more of in YA. I can't wait to go back into this world! It releases March 1, 2012.
Underworld by Meg Cabot
My thoughts: Yep, another sequel. Don't worry, it's not all sequels here today! This is the final one. But it's Meg Cabot and she's an author I just adore. Abandon was such an amazing book and I've really been looking forward to the sequel. I need a Meg fix! Luckily, aside from Underworld releasing next year, we also have the fourth Heather Wells book on its way, and it'll be out in the summer. Yay two Meg books in one year! Underworld releases May 28, 2012 and Size 12 and Ready to Rock releases July 10, 2012.
Take A Bow by Elizabeth Eulberg
My thoughts: I love Elizabeth's books and simply can't wait for this one. I love books that involve the theatre or performance in any way so this should be fun. This releases April 1, 2012.
Devine Intervention by Martha Brockenbrough
My thoughts: I "know" Martha through Readergirlz when it was on Myspace back in the day (i.e. 2007) and am so excited she has a debut novel coming out!! It sounds really fun and interesting. This releases June 1, 2012.

Waiting on Wednesday- Harper Summer 2012 Catalog
So the other day, Harper Collins released their Summer 2012 catalog and I saw a TON of titles I wanted. Here's just a few of them: My thoughts: I read Supernaturally last month and just loved it. I really enjoy coming into this world and spending time with these characters. I'm excited to read the final installment and get all the answers I want, but I'm sad to see these characters go!! My thoughts: I want this book so badly I even DREAMT about it! Seriously, I dreamed that I got an ARC of it. No judgment- we all do this! It sounds so funny and I'm excited to see Sarah and Justine working together. It should be a fabulous book and I want it now. My thoughts: I saw this and it sounded really cool. Here's the blurb- "35 girls. 1 crown. The competition of a lifetime. Cinderella meets television’s The Bachelor in this fresh dystopian romance." How interesting is that?! But that's not the only reason I'm excited for this book- there's also the gorgeous cover (where does Harper get all these awesome dresses from?) and the fact that Kiera Cass is a Virginia author! I love finding new authors that live nearby because it means fun book events I can go to! My thoughts: I have been looking forward to a new Diana book since Ascendant came out in Sept 2010. It feels like it's been forever and I'm so excited for this new novel. It sounds so interesting and I want it in my hands!! Plus, the cover is extremely beautiful too; it actually reminds me a bit of the original cover for The Girl of Fire and Thorns by Rae Carson.
There's a ton of others, like A Midsummer Tight's Dream by Louise Rennison and A Want So Wicked by Suzanne Young, and I'm so excited for Harper's lineup next year!

Waiting on Wednesday- Audition by Stasia Ward Kehoe

"When high school junior Sara wins a coveted scholarship to study ballet, she must sacrifice everything for her new life as a professional dancer-in-training. Living in a strange city with a host family, she's deeply lonely-until she falls into the arms of Remington, a choreographer in his early twenties. At first, she loves being Rem's muse, but as she discovers a surprising passion for writing, she begins to question whether she's chosen the right path. Is Rem using her, or is it the other way around? And is dancing still her dream, or does she need something more? This debut novel in verse is as intense and romantic as it is eloquent."- summary from Amazon
I've been excited for this book for a while. It just sounds so good! I love any book that has to do with the arts. Not only that but it's in verse and I love finding new verse authors to read because I really enjoy the format.
What are you all waiting on this week?

NOSOUL
Even Ana’s own mother thinks she’s a nosoul, an omen of worse things to come, and has kept her away from society. To escape her seclusion and learn whether she’ll be reincarnated, Ana travels to the city of Heart, but its citizens are suspicious and afraid of what her presence means. When dragons and sylph attack the city, is Ana to blame?
HEART
Sam believes Ana’s new soul is good and worthwhile. When he stands up for her, their relationship blooms. But can he love someone who may live only once, and will Ana’s enemies—human and creature alike—let them be together? Ana needs to uncover the mistake that gave her someone else’s life, but will her quest threaten the peace of Heart and destroy the promise of reincarnation for all?
Jodi Meadows expertly weaves soul-deep romance, fantasy, and danger into an extraordinary tale of new life."- summary from GoodReads
I chose this book because of several reasons, one of which is the fact that the author is a fellow Virginian! She'll be doing some local VA events which I'm really excited for. Aside from that, it just sounds AMAZING and hopefully will have some good world-building once I get to read it. This book comes out January 31, 2012 from HarperTeen.
This is just one of many early 2012 releases I'm looking forward to! What are you guys looking forward to?

Waiting on Wednesday- The Probability of Miracles by Wendy Wunder

"Dry, sarcastic, sixteen-year-old Cam Cooper has spent the last seven years in and out of hospitals. The last thing she wants to do in the short life she has left is move 1,500 miles away to Promise, Maine - a place known for the miraculous events that occur there. But it's undeniable that strange things happen in Promise: everlasting sunsets; purple dandelions; flamingoes in the frigid Atlantic; an elusive boy named Asher; and finally, a mysterious envelope containing a list of things for Cam to do before she dies. As Cam checks each item off the list, she finally learns to believe - in love, in herself, and even in miracles.
A debut novel from an immensely talented new writer, The Probability of Miracles crackles with wit, romance and humor and will leave readers laughing and crying with each turn of the page."- summary from Goodreads
I've been excited for this book since I first saw it in Penguin's Fall 2011 catalog earlier this year. It just sounds really good and interesting. Plus, the main character is sarcastic and I love that in a book. This comes out on December 8th, 2011.
What are you all waiting on this week?

Waiting on Wednesday

"While Varen remains a prisoner in the dream-world, Isobel is haunted by his memory. He appears to her in her dreams and soon, even in her waking life. But is she just imagining it? Isobel knows she must find a way back to Varen. She makes plans to go to Baltimore. There, she confronts the figure known throughout the world as the Poe Toaster—the same dark man who once appeared to Isobel in her dreams, calling himself "Reynolds."
Isobel succeeds in interrupting the Toaster's ritual and, in doing so, discovers a way to return to the dream-world. Soon, she finds herself swept up in a realm which not only holds remnants of Poe's presence, but has also now taken on the characteristics of Varen's innermost self. It is a dark world comprised of fear, terror, and anger.
When Isobel once more encounters Varen, she finds him changed. With his mind poisoned by the dream world, he becomes a malevolent force, bent on destroying all—even himself. Now Isobel must face a new adversary, one who also happens to be her greatest love."- summary from GoodReads
I absolutely loved Nevermore and am really excited for this sequel. It sucks that it won't be out until January but I will continue to wait impatiently for it. Creagh has created a pretty scary world and though it sounds weird, I can't wait to dive back into it.
Is anyone else excited for this book?

Waiting on Wednesday (on a Sunday)- Gone, Gone, Gone by Hannah Moskowitz

Craig, for the first time in nearly a year, wakes up in Silver Spring, Maryland on October 2nd, 2002 to a house devoid of chirping, barking, and mewing. Between twilight and daylight, somehow his entire menagerie escaped. All the animals that he'd collected since his old boyfriend was dragged away to the psych ward. Gone.
Lio, the post-cancer kid transfer student from New York City, doesn't like to talk. But he does like Craig. His new therapist says he's "a little fucked up." Craig just says, if he has the time, could he help him put up posters?
At 5:20 PM, when their stack of posters is about halfway out and Lio surprises Craig with a kiss, the sniper shootings begin.
Ten people died in the D.C. sniper shootings. This is the story of two of the boys who didn't.
OK, I know it's weird to post a Waiting on Wednesday on a Sunday but I just don't have time to put this on a Wednesday and I don't want to wait to show off this book. I just found out about it last night. What happened was this- I was on Twitter and someone had retweeted one of Hannah's tweets about having been finagled out of an ARC by a family member. Then I read Hannah's bio and saw the title Gone Gone Gone which I remembered Scott Tracey tweeting about wanting it. So I go and look it up on GoodReads and after reading the summary, I was like "OMG WANT NOW!". Unfortunately, it doesn't come out until 2012 (maybe very early 2012 and they will have ARCs at BEA? Probably won't happen but I can hope- well, until someone smashes my dreams).
But I am excited for it because A) Gay main characters! B) with romance! and C) DC sniper shootings. Now, I'm not excited about the shootings because they were horrible and I lived in the area when they happened so that was not a fun time. But I've never seen them mentioned in a book so I want to see how Hannah deals with it.
So does anyone else want this book and is eagerly anticipating it and also wants to pester Simon and Schuster at BEA for it? I want to give them a business card of mine that says on the back- "Send me Gone, Gone, Gone by Hannah Moskowitz ARC as soon as it arrives!"
...
Maybe I will...
(Side note: I just saw the tagline on the cover below the title. Is that real? Or just a joke?)

Waiting on Wednesday- BEA Edition
So I'm really looking forward to BEA next month and I have some books that are on the top of my To-Get list. Here they are:

Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins
For budding costume designer Lola Nolan, the more outrageous, the outfit--more sparkly, more fun, more wild--the better. But even though Lola's style is outrageous, she's a devoted daughter and friend with some big plans for the future. And everything is pretty perfect (right down to her hot rocker boyfriend) until the dreaded Bell twins move back into the house next door.
When the family returns and Cricket--a gifted inventor and engineer-steps out from his twin sister's shadow and back into Lola's life, she must finally reconcile a lifetime of feelings for the boy next door.
- I loved Anna and the French Kiss and have been so excited for this new novel from Stephanie Perkins. I will pester Penguin for this one.

13 Gifts by Wendy Mass
When Tara, a self-proclaimed shrinking violet, steals the school mascot, a goat, in order to make some friends with the popular crowd and gets caught, she gets herself in a heap of trouble. In addition, her parents decide that instead of taking her on their summer trip to Madagascar to study the courtship rituals of the Bamboo Lemur, she must go stay with her aunt, uncle, and bratty cousin Emily St. Claire in Willow Falls. Tara thinks it's a good time to start over; she'll be turning 13 after all, so she might as well make the best of it and perhaps even attempt to break out of her shell (in a non-criminal manner). What Tara doesn't know is that this charmed town has something big in store for her on her 13th birthday. It's not a typical birthday. But then again, nothing is Willow Falls is exactly typical!
- I love love love Wendy Mass' books and am so excited she's doing a signing for this, which means no pestering, yay!

Witch Eyes by Scott Tracey
Braden was born with witch eyes: the ability to see the world as it truly is: a blinding explosion of memories, darkness, and magic. The power enables Braden to see through spells and lies, but at the cost of horrible pain.
After a terrifying vision reveals imminent danger for the uncle who raised and instructed him, Braden retreats to Belle Dam, an old city divided by two feuding witch dynasties. As rival family heads Catherine Lansing and Jason Thorpe desperately try to use Braden's powers to unlock Belle Dam's secrets, Braden vows never to become their sacrificial pawn. But everything changes when Braden learns that Jason is his father--and Trey, the enigmatic guy he's falling for, is Catherine's son.
To stop an insidious dark magic from consuming the town, Braden must master his gift--and risk losing the one he loves.
- Scott is doing a signing for this, so no pestering Flux, lol. I've been really excited for this book since I first heard about it sometime last year. It sounds so good!

Pawnee: The Greatest Town in America by Leslie Knope
-- I don't have a description for this but it's a history of Pawnee, Indiana, the fictional town that the TV show Parks and Recreation takes place in. It has input from all the characters and a bunch of other fun stuff. I am SERIOUSLY excited for this book. I have no idea if it'll be at BEA, but I'm hoping at least a sampler will be put out. I will be pestering Hyperion for it, so be prepared whoever is manning that booth.
I'm also excited for Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater but there's no cover or synopsis yet. :(
What are you all waiting for?!

Waiting on Wednesday- Editor turned Author Edition
I usually don't do themed editions of Waiting on Wednesday but in the past week, I came across two upcoming books being written by two editors I know.

Summary: Skye never questioned the story of her life. Her Aunt Jo adopted her after the death of her parents when she was just a child, and together they flip through memories the way some people flip through photo albums.
She never questioned if the stories were true.
Until the night of her 17th birthday, when the arrival of two strangers intrudes on her cozy life. Polar opposites, like fire and ice, Asher is dark and wild, while Devin is fair, cold, and aloof. Skye has no idea what they want—only that their presence coincides with the beginning of some shockingly strange events. Events that Skye, if she dares to think it, might be responsible for causing.
High up in the mountains of Boulder, Colorado, Skye finds herself caught in the middle of an ancient battle, one that began untold millennia ago. Torn between unpredictable Asher, whom she loves, and the infuriating Devin, who she can’t stay away from, her fate is murky as a starless night. And as the secrets of her true identity are revealed, Skye realizes that her destiny may reside in the Heavens—or somewhere darker.

(this is the only photo I could find from a review and I'm not even sure this is the right cover...)
Summary: She knows only Sam, a mysterious teenage boy. He is her sole companion; her whole life. She was born, already a teenager, lying outside a burning building in soot-stained clothes, remembering nothing, not even her name. He showed her the necklace she had on, the one that named her: Abby. Sam brought her to live in his cave-palace, where he gives her everything she needs. He loves her. He protects her from the world outside, from everyone who wants to hurt them, like the denizens of Circle Nine, Dante’s deepest circle of hell.
But even in a charmed, brand-new life like Abby’s, change will come. Sam falls ill. A new girl comes to stay, and Abby begins to question Sam’s devotion. With doubt comes emotional turmoil, changes in perception, and glimpses of her past identity. In this courageous psychological thriller, Abby tells the story of living her new life and discovering her old one, while grappling with an ever-changing reality.
Don't both of them sound AWESOME?! I'm really excited and proud to see these two editors get their YA debuts published since I've chatted with each a bit. Jocelyn and I have only chatted a tiny bit when I got to meet her at BEA through Michele Jaffe (Jocelyn was her editor for Rosebush), and then we've emailed once or twice. She told me about her book through email after BEA and it just sounded so good. Now, at this BEA, I'll be getting a signed copy of that book (yes, she's doing a signing!) and I can't wait to read it.
Anne and I go a bit further back to my first blogoversary (June 2008) and she sent me a TON of Penguin titles to read, review, and giveaway. She was so sweet and very helpful to me. Then around a year later (May 2009), she asked me to take a look at a book she was editing that was coming out early the following year (Feb 2010). ARCs hadn't even been printed yet so she sent me a PDF of the book. That book was The Naughty List by Suzanne Young, which started my friendship with Suzanne since I immediately emailed her after finishing the book and gushing about it to her. I think Anne left Penguin kinda shortly after if I recall correctly and we lost touch. I had no idea she was even writing a book, let alone got it published! It's now on my list of books to get at BEA (hmmm I wonder if she's doing a signing too, hehe!).
A Beautiful Dark will be released from HarperTeen on Sept. 27, and Circle Nine will be released from Candlewick on Sept. 13!

The third book in the Hello Gorgeous series, titled Tangled, will be out this November. To find out about all of Taylor's books, go to Taylor's website!
Also, take a look at this book trailer for Huntress by Malinda Lo, which will be released April 5!

Waiting on Wednesday- The Near Witch by Victoria Schwab
"Waiting on" Wednesday is a bookish meme hosted by Breaking the Spine, where we share the upcoming releases we can't wait to get our hands on.

The Near Witch is only an old story told to frighten children.
If the wind calls at night, you must not listen. The wind is lonely, and always looking for company.
There are no strangers in the town of Near.
These are the truths that Lexi has heard all her life. But when an actual stranger—a boy who seems to fade like smoke—appears outside her home on the moor at night, she knows that at least one of these sayings is no longer true.
The next night, the children of Near start disappearing from their beds, and the mysterious boy falls under suspicion. Still, he insists on helping Lexi search for them. Something tells her she can trust him.
As the hunt for the children intensifies, so does Lexi’s need to know—about the witch that just might be more than a bedtime story, about the wind that seems to speak through the walls at night, and about the history of this nameless boy.
Part fairy tale, part love story, Victoria Schwab’s debut novel is entirely original yet achingly familiar: a song you heard long ago, a whisper carried by the wind, and a dream you won’t soon forget.
My Thoughts: This book sounds absolutely amazing. Who wouldn't want this book?! I hate that I have to wait several months before getting a copy. Plus, Victoria is an awesome lady who I've chatted with a bit on Twitter and she's giving me road trip snacks to eat on the way to her launch party since it's quite a long trip. And the cover is gorgeous even with the "Cover Not Final" thing over it. I'm just really excited.
THE NEAR WITCH comes out August 2, 2011 from Disney/Hyperion.
