In My Mailbox + Poll Results

Here's my In My Mailbox vlog this week, and it's probably the shortest it's ever been, lol. I go through like 12 books in less than 5 minutes. There's also some exciting news in there too!:

Books Mentioned:
Behind the Bit by Jessica Burkhart
The Oracles of Delphi Keep by Victoria Laurie
The Debs: Love, Lies and Texas Dips by Susan McBride
It's Not You, It's Me by Kerry Cohen Hoffmann
Red Carpet Riot: A Likely Story Novel by David Van Etten
Tempo Change by Barbara Hall
Guinevere's Gamble by Nancy Mackenzie
Fairy Tale by Cyn Balog
The Chosen One by Carol Lynch Williams
For Better or Worse by Jill Amy Rosenblatt

And here's the poll results!:
1) Love You, Hate You, Miss You by Elizabeth Scott- 3
2) Being Nikki by Meg Cabot- 1
3) Silver Phoenix by Cindy Pon- 5
4) The Awakening by Kelley Armstrong- 6
5) You Are Here by Jennifer E. Smith- 2
6) Waiting for You by Susane Colasanti- 1
7) Hottie by Jonathan Bernstein- 2
8) Because I Am Furniture by Thalia Chaltas- 2
9) Chasing Blue by Jessica Burkhart- 1
10) Wings by Aprilynne Pike- 4

So it looks like I'll be reading The Awakening and Silver Phoenix next, and then just go down in descending order from there. Thanks for the help, everyone!!

New info on Book Signings- My signing that I'll go to August is now covered- Maggie Stiefvater is holding her book launch for Shiver on Friday, August 7 in Williamsburg, VA. I'm gonna do my best to go to it. Hey, maybe I can make it a habit to go to all of Maggie's launch parties. I was there for Lament's and now will be there for Shiver's. Since she lives in VA, it shouldn't be a problem at all. I'll be your launch party buddy, Maggie! LOL. :)

GLBT Month News + What Should I Read Next?

First off, some GLBT Month news. Go over to the myspace blog to find a guest blog from author Josh Aterovis as well as my review of his first book Bleeding Hearts and a contest in which you can win a signed copy!!

Tomorrow night, I hope to post reviews of Vast Fields of Ordinary by Nick Burd as well as Without Sin by J. Tomas!

And now, another installment of What Should I Read Next? I do have my GLBT month books and one or two library books, but let me know what I should read next for review on here. The choices are:

1) Love You, Hate You, Miss You by Elizabeth Scott
2) Being Nikki by Meg Cabot
3) Silver Phoenix by Cindy Pon
4) The Awakening by Kelley Armstrong
5) You Are Here by Jennifer E. Smith
6) Waiting for You by Susane Colasanti
7) Hottie by Jonathan Bernstein
8) Because I Am Furniture by Thalia Chaltas
9) Chasing Blue by Jessica Burkhart
10) Wings by Aprilynne Pike

Now, since I have 10 choices, you can suggest two recommendations. Results will be tallied this Friday, May 22 at some point in the evening, lol.

Oh, and also, I'm going to a book signing on Thursday down in Durham, North Carolina. It's for the book Breathing by Cheryl Renee Herbsman! I'm so excited to be able to go, and will take lots of photos. And I may be meeting up with a fellow blogger, which will be very exciting!

By the way, I noticed that I seem to be going to at least one book signing a month. Here's what I have so far:

February- Ann Brashares (Annapolis, MD)
March- Maggie Stiefvater (Alexandria, VA) and Susan Rebecca White (Charlottesville, VA)
April- Kevin Roose (Lynchburg, VA)
May- Cheryl Renee Herbsman (Durham, NC)
June- Sarah Dessen (Durham, NC)
July- Melissa Marr and Kelley Armstrong (Richmond, VA)

Any authors gonna be in the MD/VA/NC area in August and beyond? If not, work on it. I need more signings to go to! :)

ETA- Another signing added for late June (the 27th, to be exact) where Claudia Gray and Elizabeth Scott will be signing at a B&N in Tysons Corner, VA! :) I'm so excited for it!

Friday Five (from LJ) + Question

NEW QUESTION- Does anyone want to purchase a signed Meg Cabot book from me? I'm needing a bit of extra money and so am parting with my signed Queen of Babble in the Big City. Email me at bookchicclub-at-gmail-dot-com for more info.

Question for you all. Should I post everything here for BEDA or on the Ning? I was planning on using the Ning for everything being cross-posted to, but no one seems to be commenting there, save for a few awesome people. And I want comments, goshdarnit! lol. So let me know. Basically, the choice is either 1) all my entries will be posted on here and on the Ning or 2) everything cross-posted to the Ning and the usual stuff here (like I've been doing it). I'll make my decision Sunday night, probably about midnight EST.

Also, if you have Livejournal, feel free to add me. Here's the link to my LJ: http://boothyisawesome.livejournal.com/

1) So yes, I am posting every day, but not on here. On SEVERAL blogs, but all entries will be cross-posted onto the Ning that Maureen started. You can read the blogs (and vlogs) from the past few days as well as for the rest of the month. I will only be posting on this LJ every Friday. Here's the link to my Ning page: http://maureenjohnson.ning.com/profiles/blog/list?user=0989nysaq8p3k Hopefully that link will work for people not on Ning. If not, tell me and I'll list all the blogs I'll be posting on. It's only three different blogs, I think.

2) So my roomie and I have a Wii now!! We also recently got Mario Kart Wii, which is AWESOME. I also brought my Gamecube games from home, so I play those on the Wii occasionally. The Wii is awesomeness personified.

3) I did have a short temp job in December and January doing data entry for a company. But unfortunately, now I am unemployed and desperately searching for a job. It sucks. I am still waiting to hear back from Hampton Inns about a second interview. And of course I'm applying to lots of other places. Wish me luck please!!!

4) Our pet count has gone up. We now have two cats (a male and a female- don't worry, we keep them separate), a fish, and two male gerbils. In the past couple months, my roomie's bunny and other betta fish died (at different times- the bunny around Thanksgiving and the fish just a couple weeks ago).

5) My book review blog is still going pretty well. I've been neglecting it a bit lately and not posting as often, but I am still reading. Two big developments have been that an excerpt of one of my reviews is in the book Invisible Touch by Kelly Parra. The review is of her first book Graffiti Girl. The other development is that I'm in the acknowledgments of Fade by Lisa McMann. Like my whole name is there (middle name excluded). It's pretty awesome. At the moment, I'm finishing up Something, Maybe by Elizabeth Scott and am in the middle of reading Wintergirls by Laurie Halse Anderson.

6) BONUS!! I am so excited about this. Earlier today, I got an email from a publicist at Penguin about recieving the book Vast Fields of Ordinary by Nick Burd. I have been wanting this book SO BADLY for like the past several months. Click on the title to see the Amazon page for more info about it. And I should be recieving it early next week!! I AM SO EXCITED!!! YAY!

So that's all for this week. If you want to know about anything else, let me know in the comments and I'll address it next week as I highly doubt I'll have 5 things to talk about every week, lol.

First Vlog Post for Seven Book Babes + Poll Results!

Here's my first vlog for Seven Book Babes! To see the other videos from the other six babes, go here: http://www.youtube.com/user/Sevenbookbabes

Hope you like it!

And the results of the poll pretty much all pointed to two books and it's a tie!! Here's the official tally:

1) Just One Wish by Janette Rallison- 1
2) Freaked by J.T. Dutton- 2 (Thanks JT for commenting on my blog!!)
3) Wintergirls by Laurie Halse Anderson- 7
4) Something, Maybe by Elizabeth Scott- 7
5) Highway to Hell by Rosemary Clement-Moore- 0 (Aw, no love for Maggie :( That's sad)

So the choice is down to Wintergirls or Something, Maybe and I'll go with whoever leaves the first comment on this blog entry with their choice.

What Should I Read Next?

So I'm finishing up The Season by Sarah MacLean and Absolutely Maybe by Lisa Yee today, and the reviews will be up tonight. Then I'm starting on Going Too Far by Jennifer Echols for review later this week (probably Wednesday).

But what should I read after that? There's a few March releases left in my TBR pile and seeing all the other reviews of the same books has conflicted me and so I come to you guys to pose this question. Here's the list of stuff that I could read and review next:

1) Just One Wish by Janette Rallison
2) Freaked by J.T. Dutton
3) Wintergirls by Laurie Halse Anderson
4) Something, Maybe by Elizabeth Scott
5) Highway to Hell by Rosemary Clement-Moore

So go ahead and vote! I'll pick the winner once I get my review up for Going Too Far, which should hopefully happen Wednesday night!

Also, don't forget to watch my In My Mailbox vlog in the entry below this one!
